The Education Department at The Woman’s Hospital of Texas offers a variety of classes, support groups, and tours to help families prepare for the physical, psychological, and emotional changes that come with pregnancy, birth, and the transition to parenthood.
Our comprehensive educational program for expectant parents with the intent to provide families with the knowledge and skills needed to achieve their goals.
Maternity Classes and Support Groups
Our classes taught by certified and experienced educators in an open and secure environment. You can register for classes and events by signing up for or logging into your MyHealthOne account, where you can pay for the class or event, and receive a registration receipt, and confirmation email.
Classes fill quickly, so be sure to register early. If you need to cancel or make changes to your registration, please notify us as soon as possible. A 25% service charge for class cancellations applies. We provide free parking during classes, which meet on a regular schedule excluding holidays.
Additionally, we believe that connection and community is just as important as education, which is why we host various support groups at The Woman's Hospital of Texas. All our support groups are free of charge. No registration is required to attend. Parking will be validated. Excluding holidays, support groups meet on a regular schedule.
Pregnancy and Childbirth
All of our childbirth classes are designed to prepare you for the physical and psychological changes associated with pregnancy and birth. We recommend completing all classes no later than the 36th week of pregnancy, or the 24th week of pregnancy if you're expecting multiples.
We are dedicated to providing breastfeeding education and support to help you and your new baby get off to the best start. Breastfeeding can be both rewarding and challenging. Learning the basics puts you and your baby on the path to success. As a Baby-Friendly hospital, we meet the gold standard for mother/ baby care practices related to breastfeeding.
Infant Care and Parenting
We know babies don’t come with guidebooks, so we provide some helpful classes and support groups for caregivers, including parents, grandparents, and siblings. From baby care practices and development to infant CPR and home safety, we want to prepare and equip you and your family for the newest addition.
The Woman’s Hospital of Texas handles more multiple births than any other hospital in the region. Recognizing that mothers expecting multiples have a different set of challenges, our Education Department offers a variety of classes and support groups to help support a healthy multiple gestational pregnancy.
High Risk Pregnancy Conditions
The Education Department, Perinatal Diabetes Center, and our NICU offer a variety of classes and support groups to help women and their families manage high risk pregnancy conditions and newborn babies who require special care.
Our Perinatal Diabetes Center offers a variety of classes taught by certified diabetes educators, nurses and registered dietitians that are specifically designed to meet the needs of women with diabetes before, during and after pregnancy.
