The Woman’s Hospital of Texas has been named a recipient of the Healthgrades 2018 Specialty Excellence Awards in Obstetrics and Gynecology, Labor and Delivery, and Gynecologic Surgery.
These achievements recognize The Woman’s Hospital of Texas as one of the Top 5% of the nation for exceptional clinical outcomes while caring for women during and after childbirth and in procedures that treat diseases and conditions of the female reproductive system.
Healthgrades analyzed patient outcome data for all patients (all-payer data) made available by 15 individual states and the District of Columbia for years 2014 through 2016. Healthgrades found that the variation in hospital performance makes a significant difference in terms of clinical outcomes:
- Patients treated in hospitals receiving the Obstetrics and Gynecology Excellence Award have, on average, a 32.8% lower risk of experiencing a complication while in the hospital than if they were treated in hospitals that did not receive the Obstetrics and Gynecology Excellence Award*.
- Patients treated in hospitals receiving the Labor and Delivery Excellence Award have, on average, a 36.8% lower risk of experiencing a complication while in the hospital than if they were treated in hospitals that did not receive the Labor and Delivery Excellence Award*.
- Patients treated in hospitals receiving the Gynecologic Surgery Excellence Award have, on average, a 46.3% lower risk of experiencing a complication while in the hospital than if they were treated in hospitals that did not receive the Gynecologic Surgery Excellence Award*.
