Aug. 1, 2017 (Houston, Texas) – HCA Healthcare Gulf Coast Division today announced the completion of the purchase of three area acute care hospitals and one long-term acute care hospital from Tenet Healthcare, further securing its position as a leader in providing community healthcare excellence in Houston. The acquisitions significantly expand HCA Healthcare’s network of care on Houston’s north side and signal plans for additional growth that will provide greater access to the region’s leading healthcare provider.

In addition to the acquisition of Tomball Regional Medical Center earlier this year, HCA Gulf Coast Division has acquired Houston Northwest Medical Center, Cypress Fairbanks Medical Center Hospital, Park Plaza Hospital and Plaza Specialty Hospital.

“These acquisitions represent a very purposeful commitment to filling what we see as a gap in community healthcare excellence in Houston,” said HCA Healthcare Gulf Coast Division President Troy Villarreal.  “Simply put, we are not only now serving patients in new communities, we are adding to or improving service line specialties — particularly in emergency and trauma, women’s health, cardiac and bariatric medicine – in neighborhoods where there is a proven need. We are very pleased to welcome these hospitals into the HCA family and to ensure that their physicians and staff have the resources and collaboration needed to serve their patients with exceptional quality.”

As the competitive healthcare market in Houston has seen changes and transitions in facility ownership, infrastructure and leadership during the last few years, HCA Healthcare has been surveying community needs. The HCA Healthcare Gulf Coast Division is committed to responsible growth in Houston that supports the physician and improves patient outcomes.

HCA Healthcare Gulf Coast Division manages 15 community hospitals across the area, as well as three specialty hospitals near the Texas Medical Center, including The Woman’s Hospital of Texas, a joint venture with Texas Orthopedic Hospital and Plaza Specialty Hospital. The division also operates ten freestanding emergency centers and nine ambulatory surgical centers.
