The Woman’s Hospital of Texas has expanded its women’s care options by adding midwifery services for expectant mothers. With the addition of midwifery services, The Woman’s Hospital of Texas is expanding options for its patients with low-risk pregnancies, including supportive, low-intervention support during their prenatal, delivery and postpartum care.
The certified nurse midwives (CNM) at The Woman’s Hospital of Texas are registered nurses with specialized, advanced training in women’s care, including reproductive health, pregnancy, birth and postpartum care. They also provide comprehensive care for women throughout their lives, including routine gynecologic services, menopause management, wellness education and well-woman exams.
Previously serving patients at Texas Children’s Hospital, this highly skilled group of certified nurse midwives brings decades of experience supporting women through pregnancy, childbirth and postpartum care. Now partnering with The Woman’s Hospital of Texas, they will continue their mission of providing patient-centered, evidence-based care.
“We are excited to expand our comprehensive services to include these experienced caregivers who provide holistic care and invite women to be partners in their healthcare journeys,” explains Jeanna Bamburg, chief executive officer at The Woman’s Hospital of Texas. “Our hospital is dedicated to reducing maternal mortality rates by improving access to healthcare for all women and expanding our services to help meet their needs during their pregnancies."
The hospital-based midwifery program at The Woman’s Hospital of Texas allows the CNMs to work with patients to create a personalized birth plan and offer support during labor and delivery in partnership with the hospital’s OB/GYN physicians.
“We look forward to welcoming new patients at The Woman’s Hospital of Texas and creating memorable delivery experiences,” said Titi Otunla, a certified nurse midwife at Woman’s Choice Midwifery. “We are excited to continue to offer care to patients in the Houston area and beyond at our new location.”
