Jeanna Bamburg raised more than $200K for the March of Dimes
Houston, TX – Jeanna Bamburg, CEO of The Woman's Hospital of Texas and appointed chair of the 2023 Houston March for Babies: A Mother of a Movement™, in conjunction with HCA Houston Healthcare partnered with local businesses and community members to become the top fundraising team, raising an impressive $239,348 for moms and babies.
This achievement was the result of a collective effort of all Gulf Coast Division hospital facilities from Houston to Corpus Christi and The Valley, who actively participated in the March for Babies. This year, 50 HCA Houston Healthcare employees joined the Circle of Champions' elite group, individuals who raised or contributed $1,000 or more for March for Babies. Approximately 5,000 people attended the 2023 Houston March for Babies and more than $1.5M was raised.
“I am very thankful for the hard work and dedication our HCA Houston Healthcare employees have shown in support of the March of Dimes,” said Bamburg. “As the Houston March for Babies chairperson, I am proud to have raised over $3.1 million for March of Dimes over the last two years. Our colleagues have truly worked to make a difference for healthy moms and babies both in our hospitals and in our communities.”
March for Babies: A Mother of a Movement™ is a year-round campaign that unites the community and partners to raise awareness and funds critically needed to advance maternal and infant health outcomes. March for Babies does this through four mission pillars – Care, Connect, Honor, and Unite. March of Dimes is a nonprofit organization that works to improve the health of mothers and babies. It helps to prevent maternal health risks, preterm birth, infant death and closes the health equity gap for all families.
Yasmene McDaniel, CEO of HCA Houston Healthcare Southeast, is set to take the reins as the incoming chair for the 2024 March for Babies. As a mother with a passion for women's health, she plans to build upon Jeanna's groundwork, raising awareness and essential funds to support women and babies.
“We are thrilled that Yasmene has accepted the opportunity to lead the Houston March for Babies to advance health equity and ensure that every mom and baby is healthy regardless of their race, wealth or geography,” said Jen Torres, March of Dimes senior executive director. “March of Dimes is deeply grateful for our Executive Leadership Team members for stepping up to lead the 2024 movement.”
The upcoming 2024 event, scheduled for Sunday, April 28, 2024, will be held at the University of Houston. Visit the March for Babies Houston event page for more information, to donate and to start or join a team.
