Breastfeeding Basics & Beyond: Defining Your Own Success
Fee: $50.00 per couple (book included) / one 4.5-hour class or two 2.25-hour classes
This class includes information about the benefits of breastfeeding for mom, baby and family. You will learn proper positioning and latch-on techniques, as well as helpful hints to enhance breastfeeding success. This class also provides the information you will need if you are planning to return to work. Learn how to choose the right breast pump for your lifestyle, proper pumping and breast milk storage. Since infant feeding is an important family choice, we encourage attendance by your support person.

Breastfeeding Multiples Class
Fee: $15.00 per couple / one 1.5-hour class
Additional instruction about the special challenges of breastfeeding twins or higher-order multiples is offered on the second Saturday of every month, immediately following the Breasfeeding Basics and Beyond class. It will be assumed that you have taken the "Basics" class or have similar knowledge from other sources. *Please Note- the time has changed from the printed schedule.

Support Groups

There is no fee to attend our support groups
Registration is not required.
Parking will be validated.
Valet parking is available at the main entrance of the hospital at no charge.

New Mom Lactation Support Group
This support group is facilitated by certified Lactation Consultants and is for new moms and babies, birth to six weeks. The group provides encouragement and information to women who choose to breastfed. Mondays, 10:00 am – 11:30 am in classroom 150. Bring your baby!

La Leche League International
This organization is dedicated to providing education, information, support and encouragement to women who choose to breastfeed. The group meets on the second Wednesday of each month from 9:45 am – 11:00 am and on the 1st. Saturday from 10:00 am – 11:15 am, in classroom D. Babies are welcome. The Lactation Support Center

Mothers Milk Bank at Austin
The Mothers’ Milk Bank at Austin (MMBA) is one of the few human milk banks on the North American continent where donor milk is collected, pasteurized and distributed to ill and premature infants whose own mothers’ milk is not available.
