To Whom It May Concern,
I would like to take this opportunity to acquaint you with The Woman's Hospital of Texas Clinical Research Center (TWHTCRC), a 3850 square foot center dedicated entirely to the betterment of womens health and quality of life through research. Many doctors at The Womans Hospital of Texas (TWHT) have a history of conducting clinical trials using the staff in their own offices and have been quite effective in running trials in this manner. By forming this Clinical Research Center at TWHT and creating a resource of people specializing in conducting clinical trials, we are formally demonstrating our commitment to excellence in clinical research, as well as to womens well being.
This Clinical Research Center brings specialized skills to the conduction of clinical trials. Our Clinical Research Center will be able to get studies started quicker, ensure that the objectives of the trial are met, and reduce the likelihood that study patients are lost to follow-up. We are able to recruit study candidates from the general population of Houston as well as the practices of the physicians at TWHT which encourages patients continuity of care and enables easier access to complete medical records.
A list of some of the clinical trials which have been conducted is enclosed. A complete list is available upon request. The specialists involved in providing health care for women include:
- Reproductive Endocrinologists
- Womens Health Infectious Disease
- Pediatric Surgeons
- General Surgeons
- Colorectal Surgeons
- Plastic Surgeons
The majority of physicians at TWHTCRC are board certified and hold clinical appointments at Baylor College of Medicine and/or The University of Texas Health Science Center-Houston.
TWHT has 8 satellite offices which draw patients from Harris County and 5 surrounding counties. This allows us not only access to a large number of additional patients but also markedly increases the geographic and ethnic demographics of the patient population. See attachments for demographic and other statistics.
Our Research Center is able to use a central and/or local (The Womans Hospital of Texas) IRB to approve the studies in which we participate.
TWHTCRC is staffed by 3 full time study coordinators and 3 physicians.
We look forward to teaming up with you to run clinical trials which will help improve the health, longevity, and quality of life for women. I assure you, we will do a superior job in helping you accomplish your goals in completing clinical trials.
I am looking forward to personally visiting your home office (research center) to present this data in a more detailed fashion and to answer any questions you may have should you feel this appropriate.
