On June 21, 2010 The Woman's Hospital of Texas celebrated the one year birthday of nine babies that are a part of a phenomenal event. One year ago, in a 24-hour span three different families gave birth to three sets of triplets at Woman's. The families have all become friends because of a blog on Space City Triplets. A bond was created when they discovered that they were due to give birth at the exact same hospital. On that faithful day in June the Elmores, the Estradas, and the Lacombes were astounded when discovering that they were all delivering on the exact same day. The Elmore family was first to deliver triplets, three girls at 7:00 a.m., followed by the Estrada family who delivered three boys at 6:00 p.m. and finally the Lacombes family who delivered two boys and one girl at 7:00 p.m. All three families' triplets shared time in The Woman's Hospital of Texas Level II Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, renowned for its excellent care. All babies and families are doing well today; and still remain friends; although the Estrada family has moved to New York.

"It has been wonderful having someone who knows exactly what we are going through at the same time," says Heather Elmore, mother of the first set triplets to be delivered.

"It's true that support is imperative," says Stephanie Lacombe. "Entertaining more than one baby is a full-time job with no breaks." All families believe that it was amazing that they were brought together and are able to help one another with issues that they are facing as this group of toddlers develop.

The CEO of the Hospital, Linda Russell, says "It's not unusual for triplets to be born at The Woman's Hospital of Texas. In fact last year we delivered 308 sets of twins, 30 sets of triplets, 1 set of quadruplets, and 1 set of sextuplets; so multiples are not new to us." Actually The Woman's Hospital of Texas has delivered over 200,000 babies since it opened its doors and delivers more babies in Harris County than any other area hospital. Woman's offers childbirth classes geared specially for expecting moms and dads of multiples. Some of the classes include Marvelous Multiples, Breastfeeding Multiples, and "Toadally Siblings", which is a class for brothers and sisters of babies who are in the NICU.
