Houston (Feb. 20, 2017) — HCA Gulf Coast Division will host a social event for nursing school students on March 23 from 4-7 p.m. at the Buffalo Soldiers National Museum, 3816 Caroline Street, Houston, Texas 77004. The event will introduce new nurses to employment opportunities within the HCA Gulf Coast Division and to HCA’s StaRN (Specialty Training Apprenticeship for Registered Nurses) program.

The StaRN program helps new nurses gain the experience needed to begin work in specialty areas, such as medical/surgical, telemetry, critical care nursing, women’s services, emergency medicine, operating room, and cath lab. New graduates participating in the program are mentored and trained by experienced nurses.

"In many ways, nurses are the foundation of the health sector, and therefore we have defined career-growth pathways for nurses,” said Benjamin Foster, HCA Gulf Coast Division regional vice president of human resources. “It's vital for us to bring in the next generation of nurses, and develop their career. This is especially important as the population ages, and the demand for nurses is ever-increasing.”

“The Nurse Graduate Social Event provides an opportunity to meet with each nursing school student one-on-one on a personal level,” said Kelli Nations, HCA Gulf Coast Division Chief Nursing Officer. “The nursing school students have the opportunity to meet with our Division’s chief nursing officers, clinical leaders, and nurses enrolled in the StaRN program.”

To reserve a space for the upcoming event, please contact Roxann Poceous, StaRN Recruiting Lead at Roxann.Poceous@hcahealthcare.com or 281.904.4776. More information about nursing positions and employee benefits with the HCA Gulf Coast Division is available on our careers page.
